Scoreless Music For

Chordica

Dissatisfied with the time it takes to learn to play a musical instrument, Joash delved into his years of music experience and created a simplified patterns-based method to teach music to his students. The method proved effective in his classes and, when he got his iPhone a few months ago, it led to the development of a software application based on his method.

Officially called the ‘Chordica’, it is a music application that can be loaded on to the iPhone or iPod Touch, transforming the digital device into a digital musical instrument that requires only two thumbs to play, yet sounding like a full digital piano when connected to sound speakers.

Originally developed with his own students in mind, Joash now believes the time is right for a musical instrument that fosters creativity and musical expression through a device as ubiquitous as the Apple iPhone. In fact, the self-confessed Apple-enthusiast believes that the ‘Chordica’ would not have been possible without the technology and availability of the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

“I hope people try it out and have their musical creativity sparked in a fresh new way. Who wouldn’t want to try sounding like a lounge accompaniment piano player with just two thumbs?”
